Hi, I'm Karen and I've loved animals ever since I was a child. I remember wanting a puppy so badly that I studied the encyclopedia to learn about the many different breeds of dogs. I wanted to prove to my father that I was responsible enough to have a pet...and it worked!
Heart 2 Heart Pet Services began out of a need to fund my education. Over time I found that I enjoyed this work so much that I decided to turn it into a business. I am fortunate that there is a need for the pet care services I provide because I truly enjoy what I do!
I love animals and having the opportunity to care for them and learn from them is fantastic! It has been a joy working with animals I had never seen before except in books. In my first year, I worked with rats, horses, rabbits and frogs in addition to cats, dogs, birds and fish.
This year I will work with chickens for the first time! I'm excited!
Should you find yourself in need of a dog walker or pet sitter when you go on a vacation, a business trip or for a long day at the office, please don't hesitate to call or email me.
I hope you'll stop by from time to time and check out the new recipes, pictures and other features as this site grows. Thank you!
All the best,

Services & Rates
• Dog Hikes
This service is perfect for people who are unable to take their dog(s) out for more than a quick walk around the block but feel that their dog(s) would be happier with more exercise.
I take dogs on a 60-minute adventure in one of the local off-leash parks or canyons. The dogs usually have an opportunity to swim in creeks, streams and ponds. They also play with frisbees and tennis balls.
During the off leash hike, each dog is provided with a colorful bandana which identifies them as part of the Heart 2 Heart Pet Services group. You’d be amazed at how much the dogs enjoy socializing with each other! In addition, this service includes door-to-door pick ups and drop offs. Your dog is sure to be happily relaxed after these fun hikes!
$20 per hike
$15 Each additional dog
• Sitting Service
The Heart 2 Heart sitting service is ideal for those who work long hours, are going on vacation, a business trip or perhaps plan to enjoy a day of self-pampering. This service includes, feedings, brief neighborhood walks, litter pan/ cage changes, trash, plant, light and mail services. One of the nice things about this service is the security it provides. There is no mail piling up so no one has to know you are away from home. You will also receive a report about your pet(s) so that you don’t feel like you’ve missed any of their cute or unique antics. At the end of the service, treats will be left for you to give your pet(s) so that your return will be extra special!

Here are comments from some clients. Additional references available upon request.
“Our dog, Barkley, loved and trusted Karen immediately. He had no reluctance at all about going with her, which is unusual for him. She made him feel comfortable right away. Karen has a natural way of relating to animals, finding the right balance between putting them at ease and setting appropriate limits. From the start, our communications with Karen were clear and thorough, and she kept us updated about our dog while we were gone. She provided plenty of opportunities for him to play with other dogs, and we know he was well loved in our absence. The month our dog spent with Karen was a very happy one!"

I am the owner of a miniature Chihuahua named Cry Baby Jones. I work out of town so Karen watches him for up to 15-20 days a month. She is always timely with pick-up and drop off as well as calls back to confirm services needed. As you might imagine Cry is a bit more to care for than a larger dog and I feel that Karen takes his care very seriously and professionally. I never worry that he is in great hands and very safe at all times. My only concern is that he won’t want to come home after all the love, affection and great walks he goes on while I am away.
Pet owner and satisfied heart2heart client.
Moka and I would both be nuts if not for Karen and Heart 2 Heart Pet Services. Moka gets to play with her best friend ever, and some cool dogs too, and comes home happy, tired and mellow. I get to work without worrying about my girl being home alone, and I never worry about her when she is with Karen. We love Heart 2 Heart Pet Services!

A sassy 12-year-old tabby. She came as a Halloween birthday gift. A vet dared me that she was male since most red tabbies are...I asked him if he wanted to bet the cost of the office visit...he didn't. Good thing, Frazier was/is female! She is the alarm clock of the household. The keeper of order and the nap police.
After my army enlistment, I adopted my foster, a golden retriever. She had heartworm, a respiratory infection, was more than 10 pounds underweight AND pregnant. She had 11 puppies. Only 2 survived. Great homes were found for them. Sandy came with a host of "special needs." I quickly learned about pet allergies, nutrition and holistic animal care. Six years later, Sandy was struck by a motorcycle. She sustained damage to her bladder, both hips and a ligament in her right knee. She lived and is doing remarkably well!
At 10 years old, she is the mediator when I am introducing new dogs on hikes. She is the calming presence for animals I work with that are recovering from surgery or making life-death transitions.
This 4 year old firecracker was re-homed 4 times. Perhaps the challenge with her was getting her to eat. She seems to have digestion problems. Nevertheless, she is full of vitality! She lives up to her name in many ways. She is the cuddle bug and the explorer.
Words will never adequately express the wonder these animals have brought into my world. I am very fortunate to have them in my life.
