Confession is like a damp cloth
for the chalkboards of our psyches.

a guide to living a clutter free life - with comprehensive workbook by Leslie Reynolds-Benns, PhD

About the author, Dr. Phil said:

We didn't just pick the first [therapist] coming down the road. We went for the best! And you know I know.
- Dr. Phil Show, November 21, 2002

Confession is Good for More than the Soul is a guide to living life free of the clutter collected in our psyches during our powerless lives as children, through our fragile teen-age years and into our often self-righteous adulthood. Unburdened by the past, which colors our choices in the present, we are free to choose new lives, new relationships and positions in the world.

Reynolds-Benns has a PhD in Counseling, a Master's Degree in Applied Theology. She is a Spiritual Finder, to use the term coined by Eckhart Tolle, as well as a certified spiritual director. After years of helping people in pain, as a counselor and hospital chaplain, she now performs weddings where she shares with couples in the lightness, joy and promise of a bright new future. Confession is Good for More than the Soul is her fourth published book. She married her best friend and ministry companion Robb Benns in 2000 and they now reside in Salt Lake City. Together they have twelve children, twenty-six grand-children and five great-grandchildren

This is an important book. Important not only for you but for the people who matter to you. It can change the course of your life and the lives of those around you.

Change them how?
By making you more accessible to people and to life. By assisting you to live the life you've always wanted to live and weren't quite able to. By making you whole.

How will you accomplish this?
By making a complete confession. By answering the workbook questions you will have an opportunity to uncover and then discard the unwanted clutter in your psyche that keeps you operating in old safe but unnecessary patterns.

You can root out your clutter in a number of critical areas–clutter around God and religion, about how we communicate with one another, on sex and gender issues, on human rights, on war and peace, on our bodies health and wellness, on the perceived injustices of the institutions in our lives, and on our stewardship of the world in which we live, as well as on the debris left from growing up in families and in our culture. After completing that inventory process, you will be given tools to assist you in maintaining a clutter-free life.

Our old ideas about God often get in the way of our living satisfying and productive lives. But since self-reliance is insufficient for the kind of change being offered here, you'll be asked to have a relationship with deity, with Spirit, with a power greater than yourself. It's okay to create that relationship if you don't already have one or if you have rejected the deity you were given as a child.

Nothing more is required except your willingness to look into your life. if you have that willingness, then this book is for you.

What readers say:

Confession Is Good for More Than the Soul is a thought-provoking stroke of genius. Dr. Reynolds Benns takes the reader into a journey of exploration into our beliefs in numerous areas. This book is not for the faint of heart. The information will definitely challenge the reader to evaluate their core beliefs and have a better understanding of where the beliefs came from.

A must read for anyone who wants to find a deeper meaning to who they are. I give Dr. Reynolds-Benns a 10 +++ for her outstanding work.
– Kathleen Gage, Business Advisor/Author/Keynote Speaker, Draper, UT

Dr. Reynolds-Benns' new book Confession Is Good For More Than The Soul, has lived up to its promise of facilitating the reader in living a clutter-free life. I found myself absolved of issues I have never dealt with by simply answering the questions Dr. Reynolds-Benns puts to the reader.

Indeed, reading this book and answering the questions has been a confession that is exactly like "a damp cloth for the chalkboard of my psyche."
