Life is full of surprises, isn't it? I thought this
newsletter was going to sprout last spring (you may
have even subscribed back then), but it turns out
one of my lessons
about "Growing your Business Organically" had to do
with organic timing. And in this case, it took me a year
to learn that lesson.

As much as I wanted to get this to you. As many
times as I put it on my to-do list and made notes
and drafts, it just wasn't sprouting. Now I know
why. I wasn't ready.
You see, I had some personal awakening to do first.
I needed to do a whole lot of gestating, learning,
integrating, letting go of fear and finding my
voice.
If I had ignored all that and launched the
newsletter anyway because it was a goal, it just
wouldn't have been as real.
So now I understand that the seed always sprouts at
just the right time, and not a moment sooner. AND
when you're really ready to grow, there's no
stopping you.
Ah, organic timing is perfect
(and pretty unpredictable)!

Lessons about life are everywhere in nature. But
because work life can so often feel disconnected
from that wisdom, I'll be bringing you simple
reminders every month that business, just like
everything else
is part of Nature, so of course the
same principles apply.
Reconnecting to the wisdom in Nature can help us let
go of a lot of self-imposed stress and remember that
we can
actually create what we want by working WITH the
most powerful forces on the planet instead of
pushing against those forces with the power of our
wills (the traditional business model). Now wouldn't
that be easier?
We'll talk about marketing, cash flow, customer
service and more, always finding ways to follow natural
principles to thrive without effort and have fun in
the growing process!

Spring happens when plants push up through the
ground. Right? But are they really pushing?
Does the seed have a goal to "get the ground out of
the way?"
Is it exerting effort to make Spring
happen, or is it just doing what it's made to do?
Feeling the warmth of the sun awakening it's life
force and bursting through the soil to move toward
the light.
What does it feel like to you? Listening to the
tulips for
your own answer could be fun. Hmmm.
But, back to business. If you really want your
business to grow, go sit in the sunshine.
No really.
Put it on your 'to do' list (if that's
what it takes) and then do it. What would it take, a
half hour? It's what we really want to be doing on
beautiful days like this anyway, but our good
busi-ness brains can get fooled into thinking that
doing something like that wouldn't be very
productive.
So here's the consultant part.
After you've soaked up some sun for a while and
you're all relaxed, consider these simple
questions.
• What WANTS to sprout in me?
• What WANTS to sprout in my work?
• Where am I resisting the natural forces of Spring?
• Is there anything that really wants to happen now,
that I've been putting off?
• Where am I pushing to make things happen?
• Am I pushing against the soil or am I moving towards
the light of what I really want?
• Is there something I've been pushing for that is
just not ready to sprout? If so, can I let go of
that effort and trust a more organic
timing?
While you're soaking up the warm rays, energy is
going to awaken in you just like the seeds and
trees. And it will be easier to feel where the life
force in YOU wants to move. The plant world is
coming out of dormancy and so are we. As Robin
Williams said, "Spring is nature's way of saying,
"Let's party!"
If you let the natural energy of Spring do what it
does best, the ground has no choice but to get out
of the way.
You just might be unstoppable! Happy sprouting!
Is it so small a thing
To have enjoy'd the sun,
To have lived light in the spring,
To have loved, to have thought, to have done..
