The Basic Workshop with Amy Cortese, M.S., C.S.C. Faculty Member Foundation for Shamanic Studies March 13 - 14, 2004 in Salt Lake City Amy's workshop ...was incredible!
Her compassion, her ability to create a safe space and her elegance of both thought and action turned a potentially difficult subject into something inspiring. Though I live in Tucson, Arizona, I'm looking for excuses to fly up and attend another workshop with Amy! Molly Roberts, M.D. |

| This workshop in core shamanism is the basic course offered through the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. The experiential weekend introduces participants to the classic shamanic journey, one of the most remarkable visionary methods used by mankind to explore the hidden universe, otherwise known only through myth and dream. During the experiential workshop, participants are introduced to core shamanism, the universal and near-universal basic methods of the shaman to enter non-ordinary reality for problem solving, well being and healing. Particular emphasis is put on the classic shamanic journey, one of the most remarkable visionary methods used by mankind to explore the hidden universe otherwise known mainly through myth and dream. Participants are initiated into shamanic journeying, aided by drumming and movement techniques for experiencing the shamanic state of consciousness and for awakening dormant spiritual abilities and connections with nature. Participants learn how the journey is utilized to restore power and health, and how shamanism can be applied in contemporary daily life to help heal oneself, others and the Planet. Completion of this workshop qualifies participants to take more advanced workshops and training courses with Michael Harner and the faculty of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. |

| Practicing Shamanism by Amy Cortese, M.S., C.S.C. Amy introduces the ancient practice of Shamanism from a cross-cultural point of view. A basic premise of Shamanism is a concern for the condition of the soul, of a person, place, family, and community. Amy will discuss shamanism as a method of healing, restoring the soul, and as a means to a deeper relationship with all of life. In shamanism, there is no hierarchy of power. The ordinary person becomes her/his own authority on spiritual matters to strengthen their own relationship to daily life. |
